Kentaro MIZUNO

Artist / Painter

Statement

I am pursuing and expressing the "fun," "beauty," and "comfort" of visual art by fusing reality and fantasy, and by not being confined to existing "colors" and "shapes. I pursue and express the "fun", "beauty" and "comfort" of visual art.

My work is characterized by colorful use of acrylic paint and dynamic knife painting, and I am conscious of creating works that attract viewers and make them feel good.

I also try to create works that are easy for anyone to understand, rather than abstract paintings that are difficult to interpret. I focus on incorporating my own originality into familiar motifs such as butterflies and animals.

Biography

Kentaro Mizuno was born in 1981 in Kobe, surrounded by mountains and the sea. Strongly interested in drawing and making things since childhood, he grew up with Japanese anime, manga and video games.

Akira Toriyama of the manga 'Dragon Ball' and the video game series 'Dragon Quest', and Yoshitaka Amano of the character design of the Final Fantasy series gave him the greatest influence.

While Mizuno loved drawing manga and anime, in 1994, at junior high school, he found himself unable to enjoy art class where he had to mainly sketch portraits or landscapes. He quit drawing. And a long time passed.

Mizuno kept drawing  for several years after he started working in 2004, reproducing his favorite manga and anime illustrations on holidays to refresh himself. Yet, he never exhibited them.

Gradually, he came to wonder whether he was happy to keep reproducing the creations of others just for himself. He wanted to make something original and show it to the world.

In 2016,He decided to be an artist.

Also, his long desire to leave a proof of his life, that he lived the age, encouraged him.

In 2016, Mizuno began his art career, participating in group exhibitions and performing live painting in art fairs in Japan. In 2018, he went international, mainly actively exhibiting in art fairs in the US, Korea and other countries.

In the meantime, he also came to handle artworks for company advertisement in Japan. In 2023, at present, he diligently creates artworks, continues his challenge at art fairs, and endeavors to increase collectors and representing galleries.
